An experiment with 120 broiler chicken slaughtered at three different ages was conducted in 1990 at Savar Training Centre for a period of 55 days to find out the optimum age of slaughter. The average live weight gain and feed consumption of the birds slaughtered at 45, 50 and 55 days were 1258 393, 1508 535 g; and 2965.17, 3709.83 and 4584.50 g, respectively (P0.05). The edible dressed carcass percentages were 76.53, 76.12 and 75.02, respectively (P0.05). The per kg net profit percentages were 12.18, 19.38 and 22.55, respectively. It was concluded that maximum profit would be obtained by slaughtering birds at the age of 55 and 50 days.
