Result of a nutrition education program for mothers in a rural area of Bangladesh

A nutrition education program was conducted among 70 rural mothers, most of whom were illiterate. Knowledge on different aspects of nutritional deficiency diseases and ways and means to prevent them was measured before and after nutrition education intervention. The educational intervention was given using different methods like lecture, demonstration and discussion for total 14 session hours for each group which consisted of ten mothers each on different days. Post intervention analysis showed improvement of knowledge by 65.4 percent. where mothers correct answer achievement rose from 8.7 to 74.1 percent which was statistically significant (P0.001).
