Experiments carried out in tanks on physiological effect of waterlogging of rape plant occurred from the rosette stage to the ripening stage showed that the waterlogging resulted in the increase of ethylene release and in the decrease of root viability as well as nitrogen accumulation. The content of malondialdehyde in leaves increased in the end of flowering period, and the premature senescence of the rape plants appeared. The photosynthesis of leaves of waterlogged rape plants was inhibited. In addition, physiological function of rape plants was retarded during waterlogging period, and the adverse effect still remained hereafter
