Parameters of frequency function of stomatal resistance were determined to fit together the experimental diffusive-viscous flow counteraction (DVC) data, the mean (surface averaged) stomatal resistance, minimum and maximum stomatal resistances. Detached leaves of in vitro cultivated tobacco were used because their stomata apparently lacked the regulation ability and thus the uncertainty in empirical relation between diffusive and viscous flow resistances could be avoided. Stomata, which showed no measurable changes in the mean viscous flow resistance, responded to increased viscous flow of air through the leaf and, thus, to increased leaf water loss, by increasing the non-homogeneity in the distribution of stomatal diffusive resistance (rs):the frequency function of rs changed from asymmetrical to bimodal type. Maximum frequencies of rs were shifted to the proximity of the minimal rs values.
