Similarity in the weed associations of sugar beet fields.
1991
Molnar, I. | Precsenyi, I.
Floristic similarities in the weed associations of sugar beet fields were studied in Hajduboszormeny on 2 scoring dates (in the 4-6-leaf stage between April 15 and May 10, and prior to harvesting between Sept. 15. and Oct. 15). Scoring was carried out on plots treated with herbicides and on non-treated plots. During the 5 years of the experiment, 13 species were found on plots sprayed with herbicides and 20 species on non-treated plots. Herbicide treatment reduced the number of species. The following weed species were found on both types of plots. Echinochloa crus-galli, Amaranthus retroflexus, Hibiscus trionum, Setaria glauca, Chenopodium album. In treated plots 4 new species appeared, and in untreated plots, in addition to them 7 more species (Ajuga chamaepithys, Consolida regalis, Chenopodium hybridum, Fumaria Schleicheri, Reseda lutea, Sisymbrium sophia, Stellaria media) were observed.
