Experiments were carried out with NEOTEC 8450 type research instrument which functions in the wavelength range of 250 to 2500 nm. The instrument can take up and store 700 or 1400 6-digit transmission or reflection data containing spectra per 400 msec. The composition data can be calculated by different program packages. For the purpose of practical introduction, the results were adapted to Infrapid 31 and 61 instruments manufactured in Hungary. For the rapid routine application of the transmission technique is offered by possibility the Trebor l90 instrument, made in America, which operates in the range 850 to 1050 nm, and uses in the linear regression equation 12 optical and 2 temperature data for the determination of the composition percentage. In practice primarily the analysis of cereals, oil-seeds, raw meats and meat products has come into general use. The latest results of measurements have shown that the NIR technique is suitable not only for the classification of the raw materials but also for the on-line control of quality.
