Mathematical methods for the analysis of the economic and ecological potential of wheat and maize production
1992
Bartos, A.
One method of analysis for agricultural sectors is provided by the use of statistical methods to identify the most important ecological and economic variables. The ecological and economic parameters of wheat and maize were evaluated by means of regression and factor analysis. An important role in the territorial distribution of wheat and maize production within Hungary is played by the size of the sector and the quality of the soil, expressed in gold crowns. Maize is grown on areas averaging ca. 1000 ha and wheat on 900 ha, so it is here that yield averages are the most favourable. An analysis is given of ecological factors (soil P and K contents, humus o/o, pH, fertilizer, heat sum, yield average, crude protein, starch content) and economic aspects (costs of fertilizer, plant protection, mechanized operations and centralized management, quantity of main product, wages, sectorial balanca) from the point of view of rational wheat and maize production.
