1992
Simay, E.I. (M.M.I. Agrobotanikai Kozp. (Hungary))
The seeds were germinated without surface disinfection following the specifications accepted for gene banks. After routine germination, seed lots containing more than 10 o/o of germinated, mouldy seeds were subjected to more detailed mycological analyses. The occurrence of species belonging to 20 fungus genera was observed, with Alternata, A. sp., Aspergillus spp., Fusarium spp., Penicillium spp. and Rhizopus stolonifer occurring most frequently on the majority of seed lots. Among the saprophytic members of the mycoflora, the so-called storage fungi were frequently observed, but seeds infected with Trichotecium roseum were also found, the metabolic produce of which have a damaging influence on the metabolism of germinating seeds, causing them to weaken and die.
