The effect of levamisole on pregnant ewes infected with lungworm Dictyocaulus Filaria
1990
Soaud, H.A.
Three groups of pregnant ewes were used in this study and two of these groups had been infected with 100L3/kg body weight of Dictyocaulus filaria, while the other group was left uninfected as control. Results showed mild clinical signs in this group without any larvae excreted or any worms inside the lungs with slight pathological findings, besides total protection against the challenge infection. Levamisole was measured in plasma samples taken from the treated group by a modified spectrophotometric method. The treatment with levamisole at dose (7.5mg/Kg) at periparturent time had given a complete protection against lung worm disease in ewes
