Comparison of two distillation methods for TBA number estimation

Two distillation methods of TBA analysis, direct and indirect water steam distillation, were compared. It was found, that for measuring TBA number in meat products, crackers and milk powder the indirect method is more convenient. It was more accurate, precise and less labour- and time-consuming. It also eliminated brown coloration and foaming during distillation
