Diallel analysis of yield-contributing traits in tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.)

Four tomato lines derived from the cvs Jasta, Bradly, Rakieta and Roter Gnom were crossed in complete diallel design. The significance of variance of general and specific combining abilities was found for the total and early yields as well as for one-fruit weight and fruit number per plant. An additive-dominance model of gene action appeared to be adequate only for the total and early yields. The information obtained may be used in heterosis breeding of tomatoes
