Increase in irrigation frequency enhanced protein content of the grain, and nitrogen and phosphorus uptake in lentil. Application with increasing levels of P2O5 up to 40 kg/ha resulted in increasing protein content and nitrogen uptake. The phosphorus uptake by lentil grain increased with gradient application rates up to 60 kg/ha, while phosphorus uptake by straw and total uptake (grain + straw) showed a rising trend with applications of up to 40 kg/ha only. Seed inoculation with phosphate-solubilizing organisms recorded a significantly higher protein content of the grain, N and P uptake by grain and straw, and total uptake than no inoculation
