The demands of ensilage for milk cows is an important problem during spring and summer in Beijing. Triticale as a new forage crop is not only high in biomass production, but also has superior nutritional quality through three years' testing. The grass yield of triticale is 30-50 percent higher than barley. After feeding triticale silage to milk cows, the milk yield was the same as with traditional silage, but milk quality improved
