Structure and pattern of the forest village was conducted at Amphoe Thong Pha Phum, Changwat Kanchanaburi where generally there are high mountains with steep slope (30-50 degree). The rest is relatively flat land where the forest village has been located. Soil in this area is clay loam and well-drained. Rock type is lime stone and shale. The monthly average maximum and minimum temperatures are 36.4 deg. Celsius and 16.1 deg. Celsius, respectively. Rains begin normally in May and spread through October and moisture lasts until December followed by dry season that continues until March. Fuel and charcoal can be collected plentifully in the existing forest. To prevent fuelwood shortage in the future the RFD has established the community forest for the forest village members. For the socio-economic condition of the forest village. Most of the families are medium in size averaging 5 person/family. The main occupation for forest villagers is farming. They grow crops mainly corn and cotton. The supplementary occupation is labour employee. The forest village members' income and expense are 13,872.60 baht/family/year and 13,275.28 baht/family/year. Very few farmers in the area have some savings. Despite low income and poverty the forest village members express that they are better off compared with their previous living. The most of the forest villagers concus with the RFD project and want additional supports from the RFD project especially, in communication establishment of health center in the forest village.
