Effects of waterstress and daminozide on flowering and total nonstructural carbohydrates, total nitrogen contents in leaves and stem apexes of tangerine (Citrus reticulata Blanco cv. Khiew-Wan)

Daminozide at 2,000, 4,000 and 6,000 ppm applied under the normal irrigation conditions tended to increase flowering but produced lower percentage of flowering than in those plants treated with similar concentrations of daminozide under the waterstress conditions. Daminozide at 4,000 ppm applied under the water stress conditions produced the highest percentage of flowering while the untreated tree under the normal irrigation conditions produced the lowest percentage of flowering. Daminozide at 6,000 ppm tended to produce the highest percentage of fruiting in both under the waterstress and the normal irrigation conditions. Daminozide could increase the total nonstructural carbohydrate content in stem apexes at 2, 3 and 5 weeks after applications. Under the normal irrigation conditions, daminozide had no effect in leaves and stem apexes but tended to produce higher total nonstructural carbohydrate content than the untreated tree. Total nitrogen contents in leaves and stem apexes under the waterstress conditions tended to be higher than under the normal irrigation conditions. Daminozide had no effect on the total nitrogen contents after the applications until flushing. Under the waterstress conditions, the C/N ratio showed higher values than that under the normal irrigation conditions. The ratio of C/N tended to increase before flushing. In this study, daminozide had no effect no C/N ratio in leaves and stem apexes.
