Study on the effect of planting patterns in corn-groundnut intercropping under upland rainfed conditions

That grain yields of corn and groundnut obtained from all intercropping patterns were less than those of the sole crops. However, the LER of all intercropping patterns excepted the alternate three rows of corn and 1 row of groundnut were more than 1.00 which indicated that intercropping had yield advantages over sole cropping. The alternate one row of corn and three rows of groundnut produced the highest LER (1.29) whereas the alternate three rows of corn and 1 row of groundnut had the lowest LER (0.97).
