Soil moisture and plant establishment as an important factor in soybean planted after rice at Kampangsaen District [Thailand]
1987
Aphiphan Pookpakdi | Prasarn Yingchol
The delay in planting soybean caused the depletion of soil moisture and reduced the plant stand percentage significantly. The relationship between plant stand and soil moisture was positive and linear giving the r value of 0.98 and the regression line was highly significant. The success in soybean establishment after rice depends upon soil moisture availability. At Kampangsaen soil in January one would obtain 90 % plant stand if soybean seeds were planted in soil with soil moisture content of approximately 44 %. That particular soil moisture was normally obtained at approximately 7 days after flooding.
