Preliminary report on measures towards controlling bacterial wilt in tomato where no resistant variety has been identified (First rains 1992)

A preliminary experiment to determine the effectiveness of a combination of Dithane M 45, Sencor pre-emergency herbicide and soil solarization in controlling bacterial wilt in tomato, Hienz variety (susceptible and where no resistant variety has been found), revealed that the use of solarization delays and reduces bacterial wilt infection of tomatoes whereas bare-footed transplants which were directly exposed to bacteria inoculum wilted fast. Investigations are still continuing
