1993
Rahman, Md. Mahbubar (Bangladesh Agricultural Research Inst., Gazipur (Bangladesh). Entomology Div.)
Pod borer (Heliothis armigera) infestation in chickpea varied widely ranging from 8.15% to 92.5% in 13 upazilas under nine districts of Bangladesh, the lowest being at Ishurdi and the highest at Lalanagar of Mirsharai. In most locations, infestations ranged from 30% to 40%. The percentage of unfilled pods ranged from 26.95 to 60.94. The yield loss due to pod borer was around 400 kg/ha in most of the upazilas, and thus the total annual grain loss for the country would amount to 2142.72 tons.
