The effect of insecticide treatment of seed lucerne stands on the populations of useful and pollinating insects was studied. Eleven insecticides were studied. The pyrethroid Karate 5 EC was studied for the longest time (six years). The samples were collected with an insect sweep net prior to the treatment, 1 - 3 days after the treatment, and then 10 - 15 days after the application of the insecticides. The occurrence of entomophagous lady beetles (Coccinellidae), predatory bugs of the genera Orius and Nabis, individuals of the genus Chrysopa, representatives of the families Ichneumonidae and Braconidae and pollinators honeybee (Apis mellifera) and solitary bees (Rhophitoides canus) was investigated. Entomophagous lady beetles were the most sensitive to organophosphates and pyrethroids, particularly to the preparation Karate 5 EC at a dose of 125 l/ha. Predatory bugs of the genus Orius and representatives of the families Ichneumonidae and Braconidae were also very sensitive.
