Some aspects of differences in reaction to S. nodorum infection in winter wheat genotypes differing in ear morphology and productivity were detected. Twenty five varieties and advanced lines were grown in the field experiment under conditions of artificial inoculation with the pathogen which was carried out at the heading stage. After harvest, the following traits were investigated: ear length (mm), number of spikelets/ear, weight and ear dead weight (all in g). There was also calculated the harvest index of ear (HIE) as the rate of ear grain weight and ear weight. Productivity trait changes were derived from the comparison of inoculated plants with chemically treated ones (Sportak 45 EC). We also studied disease deleterious effects in the separated thirds of ear. Genotypes were noted for ear length from 72 to 147 mm with the mean value of 105 mm. The number of spikelet insertions ranged from 17 to 25.
