Effect of lysine supplementation on chicken feeds with different energy content

Energy and lysine metabolisms of different levels were investigated among 300 male day-old chicks during 23 h (day light programme) in six treatments of a 2 x 3 factorial experiment. The starter and finishing concentrates were fed at the ages of 0-3 and 5-7 weeks, resp. The L-lysine-HCl content of the manufactured lysine used as a supplement was 98.5 o/o. The 0.3 and 0.6 o/o lysine supplementation concerning feed dry matter boosted the weight increase and feed conversion in the first three weeks. Its effect, however, was negligible in the 4th week
