This baler with sliding piston is suitable for swathing and baling of rough fodder, and straw. The harvested product lying on the swath is lifted by the picking mechanism with elastic fingers and transported to the feeder. The compactness of the bale can be adjusted by pretightening the pressure springs. During the testing, it has been stated that the K-440 baler suitably picks up and bales lucerne hay and wheat straw. The performance of the baler operated with MTZ-80 tractor in baling lucerna was 10-17 t/h, in baling hay 3.5-8 t/h, in balling straw 8-12 t/ha. The machine may be operated together with tractors of 37-44 kW output. It is advisable to set the working speed between 6-8 km/h
