The biological activity of silatrans was examined on plants developing from winter wheat seeds dressed with aqueous solutions of organic Si compounds at various concentrations. Plant height and the number of leaves per plant were increased by a 12.5 mg/dm3 concentration of 1-/3-chlorphenoxy/-silatran and by a 50 mg/dm3 concentration of 1-ethoxy-silatran. When 1-ethoxy-silatran and 1-chlormethyl-silatran were applied at a concentration of 110 mg/dm3, they resulted in grain yield surpluses of 11 o/o and 13.8 o/o, resp. Considering the fact that 1-ethoxy-silatran is hydrolysed in the soil to produce harmless compounds (ethanol, triethanol-aminosilicic acid) within a few days. It can be recommended at a concentration of 110 mg/dm3 as a dressing agent to increase the yield of winter wheat
