Fishing experiment of Kalipo was conducted in Seribu Islands waters February-March 1987 and Sunda Strait in February-May 1988. Kalipo, a bottom longline, consists of the main line, and the branch line which is made of PVC pipe. The result showed that Kalipo is a very suitable gear for fishing catching in coral reef bottom. The dominant species of fish caught are marine catfish (Arius sp.), sharks (Nebrious sp.) and red snapper (Lutjanus sp.). Based on the position of hooks, the catch of hook No. 4 is the highest (28,36 percent) one. The statistical test showed however that the capture was not affected by the position of the hooks
