A trial was carried out at Karawang substation in 1984 using variety Cisadane. Four kinds of drying period were used as treatments, i.e. 0, 1, 4, and 8 hours respectively. The drying was done in a flat bed dryer of one ton capacity at a temperature of 45 degrees C and a fan at 1100-1600 rpm. Each treatment have 3 replications, 280 kg wet rice grain each plot. The moisture content of the rice grain after the drying process were 25.1, 21.9, 18.1 and 14.2 percent respectively. The rice grains were stored at the ambient air condition in the gony bags. The rice grain damages were observed at 0, 3, 6, 18 and 30 days after storage. The result showed that the wet rice grain could be stored for 7 days after half drying to 17 percent moisture content immediately after harvest. When the rice grains have a moisture content more than 17 percent, they should be stored under shorter period than 7 days. The drying capacity of flat bed dryer was multiplied twice when the wet grains were dried to 17 percent moisture content compared with those dried to a 14 percent moisture content
