[Mineral addition to rations of water buffaloes fed road-side grass]

An exploratory trial has been done at Balai Penelitian Ternak, Ciawi, in an attempt to look at the effect of mineral supplements on the growth of buffalo heifers fed road-side grass. Twenty heifers were divided into four groups of five. Group A was treated as control, group B was given table salt, group C was supplemented with table salt as well as trace element, the growth was significantly affected by treatments (P 0.01); however, treatment effect on dry matter intake was insignificant.
