For the effective utilization of green plants, crop fractionation techniques for the separation of nutrients into solid and liquid constituents are being developed. The current utilization of press machines based on the flow pressing method is associated with the following problems: a) low dewatering rate in the case of harder fibrous materials, b) large amount of electric power needed for pressing in case of juicier materials, and c) large quantity of fibers remaining in the juice after pressing. Therefore, we attempted to improve the efficiency of pressing and dewatering by developing: a) a pre-treatment method that softens materials by fermentation and b) a press machine suitable for the pre-treated materials
