Purevjav, J. | Erdenebileg, O. (Veterinary Research Institute, Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia))
This is a study of data from 1976 to 1978 in Central Province, Mongolia of 30 yearling cows. Feeding was monitored carefully in groups. Cows in the control group besides being fed on pasture received top dressing equal to 3.6 fodder unit per head each day. Bone meal, sodium carbonate and other minerals were added daily. Calving periods were carefully monitored with cows from both groups being subjected to clinical examinations at 21 and 31 days and every month after calving. Liveweights were determined both in winter and summer. All cows were maintained with bulls from the first day of calving. From the study it has become possible to determine the optimum conditions for breeding and correct feed regimes
