Fast-growing fry and fingerlings (Jumpers) of the mudfish Clarias anguillaris (L) were selected at various sampling exercises during the nursery management. Size differences in a homogeneous class appeared right from the first stage of life and magnified as the fish grew from larvae through fry to fingerlings. Three distinct size classes developed at about the 6th week of life. Causes of differential growth are discussed
