Rice leaffolder (RLF), Cnaphalocrosis medinalis Guenee (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae), is one of the key rice insect plant in Asia. An experiment on high temperature tolerance of RLF was designed to evaluate the effect of warming climate in RLF. The set up was done at 40 deg C, 70% RH (relative humidity) and 12:12 illumination in IRRI phytotron. The quantal response data obtained were subjected to probit analysis using a computer program developed by Finney. It was shown that the median lethal doses (LT50, the exposure time to attain 50% mortality, expressed in hours) for egg, larvae and pupa were 30, 186, 75 hours respectively. The relationship between probit of mortality and dose (hour) were Ye=-4.57 + 2.81* X, Y1=0.24 + 0.91* X and Yp=0.08 + 1.14* X. It was concluded that RLF population could not exist under 40 deg C and its distribution area might be limited by this environmental factor
