Effect of inbreeding depression in rats on sex hormone concentration as affected by stress reactivity
1992
Kosowska, B.
An experiment on male and female rats with 50 or 91 percent of inbreeding level was carried out. The animals to physical stress involving 3 day starvation followed by 3 h swimming were exposed. A significant decrease of plasma prolactin, LH, FSH, testosterone, progesterone, aldosterone, corticosterone and 17-beta-oestradiol concentration with increasing of the inbreeding coefficient in rats was stated. The significant negative effect of stress on all examined hormone levels was observed. Effect of sex on plasma LH, FSH, prolactin, corticosterone and aldosterone levels in rats was also stated
