In 1988-90 the influence of pH and mineral fertilization on infection of sugar beet root by Polymyxa betae Keskin was investigated. The positive influence of nitrogen, phosphorus and magnesium fertilizers on reduction of beet root infection by P. betae was shown. The number of roots with pathogen increased with increasing pH of the soil
