1992
Opalinski, C. (Akademia Rolnicza, Wroclaw (Poland). Inst. Budownictwa Rolniczego) | Rockson, J.
It can be noted that with a shortening of time of anaerobic digestion to 20 days and increase of loading rate to 2.2 kg organic matter per cu. m digester volume per day, 11 liter of pure methane gas per liter manure per day was produced. Besides the offensive smell of the pig manure is reduced considerably by the anaerobic process. The protein content of the sludge is 20 percent, while the net protein utilization with diet + methionin is only 22. Ten percent of the sludge in the diet of rats was not found to be harmful; digestibility of sludge, however, is only 15 percent. During the anaerobic digestion, several pathogenic microorganisms were considerably reduced in number
