1993
Parry, M.L. | Parry, C.J. (University of Birmingham (United Kingdom). Dept. of Geography)
This paper provides a broad introduction to the agricultural geography of barley. It begins with a brief discussion of the origins and development of barley and outlines its present distribution. Consideration is then given to the pattern of production and changes in these patterns and in barley yields over the past forty years. The location of production, region by region, is discussed, with emphasis on changes in location in recent years. The paper concludes by summarizing the climatic range of barley and its yield dependability under variable climatic conditions
