The effects of rate and method of zinc application to lentil (Lens culinaris Medik. cv. 'LL 56') were studied during 1990/91. Soil application of zinc at 12.5 kg ZnSO4/ha and foliar spray of 0.6 ZnSO4, 30 and 40 days after sowing, resulted in maximum number of pods/plant, number of grains/pod, 1000-grain weight and grain yield. Maximum straw and biological yields were obtained from soil receiving 25 kg ZnSO4/ha, Zinc application increased the zinc content of both grain and straw. The ratios of CU/Zn, Fe/Zn and Mn/Zn were reduced by zinc application, except that of Fe/Zn in straw
