[The breeding of early sugar corn hybrids in Western Ukraine]

Based on the material from the VIR collection new early corn lines with high combining ability were created for the Ukraine forest steppe. On the basis of these lines 13 deserving F1 hybrids were received of which the hybrids Roksolana and Kulikovskij were regionally adapted in Krasnodar area in 1990. They are characterized by high yielding ability in standardized quality cobs, uniform growth in the first harvest, good taste quality of the grain, slight smut affection, suitability for mechanized harvest.
