Pigs have characteristic traits as species (relative low weight of heart, Ionger systola than diastola, higher blood viscosity), and species independent peculiarities as a consequence of selection to higher meatness (great food consumption, thinner backfat thickness, poorer overgrowness with bristles, poorer statodynamics because of longer body, increased secretion of somatotropin and changed ratio between growth stimulating and adrenocorticotropic hormones), that have a negative influence on their capability of taking transportation. At transport of pigs, there comes to losses and negative changes, resulting in poor meat quality. In this article the transport and handling of pigs from unloading to stunning and slaughtering are discussed
