[Supplementary irrigation project in the south of Syria]

The paper presents the Upper Yarmouk irrigation project. It shows the natural prevailing water conditions in the region and the available water resources and specifications, it talks also about the exploitation history of the resources in summer and the reasons lead to think about completing this exploitation through establishing a new project based on winter supplementary irrigation to insert the largest area in the project and insure winter season production stability. The paper also discusses the ingredients of the new project constructions and exploitation status with reference to the problems suffered that need solution. Finally, the paper evaluates the project productivity to demonstrate the actual benefit of supplementary irrigation inspite of modification made by omitting an important part of the project, namely, Al-Kutaibeh storing dam.
