Tiger prawn, Penaeus monodon Fabricius, of various stages of development from egg to postlarva 17 were determined of oxygen consumption rate in static-closed system at routine stage of activity. Routine metabolic rate increased proportionately to period of development and could be expressed by the model R-Re=2.18 t0.99 where R is oxygen consumption rate and Re is oxygen consumption rate of egg in mg. O2/hr., T is period of development in days. Average Re is 2.205 mg. O2/hr. For active stage of activity of larva from nauplius to mysis, optimum content of dissolved oxygen was above 5.5 mg./L. and above 4.5 mg.L. for post larva 2 to post larva 15. Both figures might be recommended for natural and hatcheries condition. Responses to varying dissolved oxygen content which are oxygen-dependent in egg to post larva 15 changed to be oxygen-independent in post larva 17. Condition of experiment was 26 +- 4 deg Celsius and 31 +- 1 ppt. salinity.
