Two types of manual harvester and a grader for lemon were developed by a Thai farmer, Mr. Sunthron Tiachareon. Manual harvesters are brother and sister type. The brother-harvester is made of a 5 cm diameter and 300 cm lenght PVC tube which is stripped at one end and netted as a collecting basket. A scissors is attached on the top of the basket and the cutting action is controlled via a wire by hand lever at the lower end of the tube. The PVC tube is used to collect harvested lemon. Flowing out of lemon from PVC tube is prevented by upper and lower valve. The capacity of a brother-harvester is about 2094 fruits/man-h. The sister-harvester is made of a 2.5 cm diameter and 23 cm length PVC tube. The main parts is similar to the brother-harvester except the tube is not used for collecting lemon. The lemon is poured off at the time the basket is full. The capacity of a sister-harvester is about 3000 fruits/man-h. The lemon grader consists of four inclined (8 degree) grading portions. Spaced PVC tube is provided at spacings 34.0, 37.3, 40.5 and 51.1 mm for lemon grade 3, 2, 1 and 0 respectively. Lemon is poured into the feeding tray and continuously seeped through for grading portions by hand. The grading lemon falls down through grading spaces to the separated containers. The capacity of the lemon grader is about 684.7 kg/h with the sizing efficiency 84.6 %.
