Study on yield and quality of Burley tobacco grown in the late of rainy season

Burley tobacco cultivars, Ky 14 and Burley 1 special, were grown in the late of rainy season during September 1985 to May 1986 at Thaphon Leaf Station,Phetchabun Province. The higher yield and crop value were obtained from Ky 14 with 560 of cured leaves per rai and 15,868 Baht/rai, respectively. Burley 1 special lower yield with 510 kg. of cured leaves per rai and 14,986 Baht/rai for crop value. On the other hand, Burley 1 special produced 92.16 % of high grades cured leaves and had an average price of 29.38 Baht/kg. Ky 14 produced 76.07% of high grades cured leaves with the total average price of 28.33 Baht/kg. The percentage of nicotine content, total nitrogen, reducing sugars, total volatile bases and chlorine were 5.89, 4.02, 6.45, 1.057 and 0.89 for Ky 14 and 5.49, 3.99, 6.39, 0.948 and 0.97 for Burley 1 special, respectively
