The objectives of this experiment was to study corn-cotton relay cropping systems, using sole corn and sole cotton as checks. The treatments inculded sole corn, sole cotton and planting corn in different spacing and density but with the same number of population (8533 plants/rai), about 60-70 days after which, cotton was planted between the rows of corn. A randomized complete blockdesign was employed with 4 replications. The experiment was conducted at Nakornsawan and Suphanburi Field Crop Research centers, Sri Somrong and Loei Field Crop Experiment Stations during the rainy season of 1979-1984. The yield of corn planted in corn-cotton relay cropping system was not significantly different from the sole corn treatment. But the cotton yield in the cropping system was less than the yield of sole cotton. The approriate system was planting corn in early rainy season (spacing 100x60x3) and planting cotton (spacing 100x10x1) between the rows of corn 60-70 days after corn germination, Finally we think that the corn-cotton relay cropping system is one of the systems which can be used by the farmers.
