1986
Witool Sirivivatpitool (Mae Jo Tobacco Experiment Station, Chiang Mai (Thailand). Soil and Fertilizer Div.)
Study was to determine the effects of calcic limestone and slaked lime on quality especially on free nicotine and nicotine content in flue-cured tobacco. The field experiment was conducted at Mae Jo Tobacco Experiment Station, Chiang Mai, Thailand from August to November 1985. Five treatments were: 500 gk./rai, 1,000 kg./rai of calcic limestone, 500 kg./rai, 1,000 kg./rai of slaked lime and the control. The treatments were laid out in RCBD with four replications. The cured leaf weight, crop value and chemical composition, especially, free nicotine were not significantly different. Anyhow, increasing rate of calcic limestone and slaked lime increased soil calcium and pH of soil after cropping.
