Trifluralin application to soil increased the pesticide damage as the concentration increased under pot and frame cultivation with high water content and 2.25-2.35% organic matter in soil. Application in high concentration caused seedling blight, and inhibited the growth of soybean as well as symbiotic nitrogen fixation. The height, weight, numbers of pods and seeds and seed weight of treated plants were lower than those of control. It also inhibited the growth and multiplication of bacteria, actinomyces and fungi in soil
