The alfalfa flower visits of the honey bee (Apis mellifera L.) were investigated during 1984-1989 both on open and isolated plots (2*5 m) on the fields in Saaremaa, Jogeva and Polva districts. More than 90 of the bee visits on alfalfa were made by the honey bee, but most of them collected nectar as robbers from the side of the flower and failed to trip it.The bee densities had a significant positive correlation with the total number of the flowers, but there was no significant correlation with the percentage of tripped flowers. 1.1 of the flowers were occasionally tripped by nectar-collecting bees. The tripping efficiency of the honey bee was higher (63) on the isolated plots than on the fields.
