As a result of 2-3 sprayings at the beginning of the vegetation period with Paturyl /the active agent of which is benzyladenine/ in a 0.1-0.2 % dosage, on the grafts of 6 apple varieties 3.4 branches developed on the average, whereas without treatment only 1.4. The treatment of the grafts of 2 sweet cherry varieties increased the number of branches as well. On 68 % of the recently planted saplings of the Gloster apple variety, three or more branchies suitable for crown formation developed, whereas without treatment only on 22 %. In young apple orchards, the number of branches increasing crown surface increased by 40 % and that of fruiting laterals by 48 % under the effect of treatment, which in the year following the latter resulted in a 58 % increase in the number of inflorescences
