Comparison of egg cycles and some other production characteristics of indigenous chickens with standard breeds in Iraq
1988
Ahmed, A.H.
Data were collected from (370) chicks of each kind, in three replications, through growth, to find out the effect of strain, period and interaction on some characteristics. At the age of 16 weeks, 36 chickens of each kind were put in cages individually, in order to find the effect of comb type on some other characteristics. The results showed that fertility, hatchability and embryonic mortality rates were significantly less among new Hampshire eggs and significantly higher among leghorn eggs, whereas no significant effect appeared on local chickens in respect of comb type over all these characteristics
