From the view point of breeding of self-fruitful variety in apple, we investigated the genetic and environmental variations of fruit set using various kinds of pollination method. The experiments were repeated 2 or 3 years. The results are as follows; 1) Repeatability values of self-fruitfulness (SF) were 0.59-0.89 depending upon experimental materials, and the values of stimulative parthenocarpy (SP) were smaller than that of SF. Therefore, it was estimated that the interaction between SP and environmental factors (EF) would be larger than that between SF and EF. 2) Because any of single correlation coefficients among self-compatibility (SC), automatic parthenocarpy (AP) and SP was not statistically significant, it was estimated that genetic factors controlling SC, AP and SP differ with one another. 3) The variations within clonal lines and those between years for fruit-set percentage of parthenocarpic fruit, were remarkably large in comparison with that of cross-pollinated fruit. 4) any of single correlation coefficients between fruit-set percentage and climatic factors (temperature, precipitation, sunshine duration) were not statistically significant
