Rapid determination of amylose contents of newly bred characteristic rices by near infrared spectroscopy

Amylose content determination of rice seeds by near infrared spectroscopy (NIR) was carried out. In case of ordinary rices for cooked rice, calibration formulae made for the chemical data revealed low acceptability against the predication test. In case of newly bred characteristic rices including glutinous rice, medium-amylose rices and high-amylose rices, the calibration equation revealed high correlation coefficient (R=0.93) to the calibration with 24 samples and acceptable correlation (R=0.89) to the prediction of 54 samples although more improvement should be necessary
